"2023 really was The Year of all time" ...I'm almost certain you've heard that more times than you care to admit, right?

So have I, though it's not without cause: last year may not have been as BAD as 2020 (and part of 2021) in terms of sheer death toll, speculative bubbles, and the unfortunate advent of those weird monkey profile pictures, but some would argue that the sheer chaos and cataclysm (both in the digital media landscape and on personal levels) was almost comparable. Among other things, I got so stressed at what was a promising, high-paying job that I walked out, I'm back to paying student loans (grumble grumble) and there's more pressure than ever to meet inevitable bill payments.

...of course, that is to assume that I wasn't ready for a year like this. To give some perspective, every year- without fail- I've been a stickler for New Year's Resolutions- challenging myself to change for the better. Putting my best foot forward in spite of what troubles that the year may bring... this year, I promised I'd put a gun to 2024's head and tell IT to get its crap together, or it'd wind up like 2023.

I'm no longer going to tie myself to the fate I've been given. I proved to myself last year that I could change it any time I wanted to, no matter how much I was bullied into taking the easier route. I intend to stick by that, and- by consequence- I WILL be fighting fate to do the things that make me happiest.
